At-home Activity:

By The People was launched by the Library of Congress in 2018, and allows users to transcribe, review, and tag digitized images of manuscripts and typed materials from their collections. These transcriptions will improve search, readability, and access to handwritten and typed documents for those who are not fully sighted or cannot read the handwriting of the original documents. Creating an account is not required, but unlocks access to additional features!

Multiple campaigns are available to work on, but we are highlighting:

Many of the personal papers of Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Mary Church Terrell, Carrie Chapman Catt, Anna E. Dickinson, Lucy Stone, and Alice Stone Blackwell are included, and have never been fully transcribed. Becoming a virtual volunteer with the Library of Congress will allow you to contribute to increasing the accessibility and interpretation of historical documents!
